Nikita Jane

Collection Development | Technical Design

About this project

Nikita Jane is an Australian lingerie retailer that was looking to create their own line of products.
Based on the founder’s vision, I helped them develop a collection that was bold and sexy, with daring details and intricate embroidery, but still within a price point that made sense for their core customer base.
I also created the technical documents necessary for their manufacturing partner to produce the final garments.

Design development

Creating a collection is an extensive process that goes from moodboards, development of first sketches and, finally, the tech packs that allow the garments to be manufactured:

The Process

My design process started with intense research on current lingerie trends, as well as Nikita Jane’s existing customer demographic, and included recommendations for suitable fabrics and colours. That research phase allowed me to create design proposals that reflected the company’s vision and facilitated their transition from retailer to brand.

The tools

  • Illustrator and Photoshop were used to create graphics and draw the technical sketches that were featured on the tech packs.
  • CLO 3D helped me convey my design ideas in a more realistic way through 3D mockups based on real patterns, and as well as allowing me to include more precise measurements on the tech packs.

The results

  • A cohesive collection that reflects Nikita Jane’s position within the lingerie market, as well as their unique voice as a brand that mixes sensuality and playfulness.
  • A range of designs that are appealing to Nikita Jane’s customer base, who had a great response during the launch.
  • Detailed CADs and Tech Packs that contained all the information needed by the manufacturers for a smooth production process.

«From the initial Zoom meeting and receiving a snapshot of Sofia’s previous work, it was clear to see that we would be working with not only a well experienced designer but also professional and articulate.
Her communication skills and mannerism made me feel at ease asking questions.

I was fortunate to have met Sofia who provided me with a list of both manufactures, suppliers and held my hand through my first design range and launch process.

Without hesitation, we would highly recommend Sofia to any company both start-up, well established and luxury.»

The Final Product

The development process culminated in a successful launch, with a line-up of styles that confidently show Nikita Jane’s value proposition. I couldn’t be happier for having helped Violet (Nikita Jane’s founder) to achieve her vision, and lay the foundation of this new brand that is reclaiming their place in the lingerie scene. Here are some examples of that work:
